Max and Gaye wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy 2025!
On an overcast but warm day in November, Karen and Dan welcomed us to their lovely food garden set amongst the gum trees in Blackmans Bay. As a busy family with three young children, they shared their invaluable tips for achieving a low maintenance but highly productive patch.
Despite grey skies threatening above, intrepid gardeners converged on the seemingly typical suburban garden of our hosts, Steve and Araina. Steve's talk covered many interesting topics including the hugelkultur beds, Japanese weeding tool, use of trichaderma to control curly leaf and his practice of retaining all garden waste on the property.

We like to grow what we eat
On what could only be described as a glorious warm spring day, a short drive to the north of Launceston found us in the large 4 acre garden overlooking the Tamar River. Beyond the extensive ornamental beds we discovered the large area of productive food garden. Fruit trees aplenty (many of them espaliered), grape vines and berries along fences and supports, quaint garden structures and flowers galore waiting to be explored.
Visit Otago Gemma and Geoff 2024
Max unerringly picked brilliant spring weather for the Food Garden Group visit to Gemma and Geoff's garden in Otago. And what a garden it is! There was so much to see and discuss.
