Visit Peter and Pam Longford 2026

Peter and Pam welcomed us in to their Longford garden on Sunday. Peter led us around answering questions along the way.

The beds were well planned to be similar dimensions to enable the hothouse structure to be moved to a different bed each year for the tomatoes.

One end is covered with bird netting instead of plastic, giving access and ventilation.

We were all very impressed with the large espaliered apple and pear trees that nicely frame one entrance to the garden. The espaliered trees were full of delicious looking fruit.

The sturdy structure for the Builda apricot tree was impressive. This variety is great for bottling.

We enjoyed looking at the new part of the garden, most of which has been claimed by Pam for a colourful flower display with areas behind the flowers for potatoes, pumpkins and sweetcorn.

The produce table and morning tea were enjoyed by everyone.

Thank you Peter and Pam for kindly hosting the group in your garden!
