Visit Howrah Mandy 2026
A warm summer's day and a delightful garden greeted us for the the Southern Food Garden Group's February visit to Mandy's in Howrah. Mandy moved here about three years ago, and we were all astonished to see how she has managed to change the garden from a 'blank canvas' with mainly grass to this thriving plot with flowers everywhere and the vegie components well underway too!
On a sunny but cold morning in February we were lucky to visit Marian’s vibrant and lush food forest in Taroona. In a little under six years Marian and her husband Pat have transformed a previously loved-but-neglected space into a thriving mix of fruit trees, vegetables, chicken habitat, and flowers.
Visit Sandfly Jennie and Russell 2024
The December visit of the Food Garden group to Jennie and Russell in Sandfly was one for the self-sufficiency enthusiasts! What a lot of inspiration and delight we all got from this charming and very productive garden.

Visit South Hobart Rosalie December 2021
The rain came and went on a cool Saturday in early December when we met at Rosalie and Grant's place in South Hobart. And what an inspiring visit it was. We had visited Rosalie before, in a previous garden of hers in Sandfly. Then, as now, we were all amazed at the energy, creativity and sheer grit and determination Rosalie brings to her gardens.

Visit Bellerive Vivien and Mark 24 October 2021
Vivien and Marks garden in Bellerive is an unusual food garden because it combines ornamentals and edible plants everywhere. The result is a feast for the eye, and if you look carefully there is plenty of food to find as well.
Visit Clarendon Vale - Steven - January 2021
Steven and Kathryn's garden in Clarendon Vale is brilliant example of what can be achieved in a short time. When our group visited their garden on a cool and windy Saturday morning we were all amazed and inspired by the transformation from a 'blank slate' property just over 2 years ago into a productive and diverse food garden today.
