Visit Rose Bay Max and Gaye 2023

A cool, calm spring morning greeted our food garden visitors to Rose Bay this month, where we discovered a gorgeous and highly productive garden tucked away in Max and Gaye’s suburban backyard. In addition to the great garden, lovely company and fabulous food, we were also treated to a crash course in all things crop protection!

Visit Otago Bay Laura and Frank 2022

Visit Otago Bay Laura and Frank 2022

We visited Laura and Frank in 2018, a couple of years after they bought their property. It was high time for a re-visit and on a Sunday morning, with rain threatening, a happy group of gardeners gathered in Otago Bay for an enjoyable morning.

A lot of Laura and Frank's plans for a productive garden have come to pass, some are still a work in progress and some have been abandoned.

In My Garden - Jan - July 2022

Some people may be a bit reluctant to show people around their garden in the middle of winter. Jan R. lives in Dynnyrne, is a very enthusiastic year-round food gardener, and was very happy to show us what is happening in her winter-garden right now. Good on you, Jan, and thank you for this contribution!

Visit Liz September 2020

 Visit - Liz -September 2020

The night before the first Food Garden visit in the Covid19 era, the wind howled and the rain drummed on roofs all over Hobart. But true to form, the morning of the visit dawned sunny and bright and many of us made our way to West Hobart where Liz has a charming market garden.

In My Garden - Denby - August 2020

In My Garden - Denby - August 2020

Denby's garden in Lindisfarne experiences very heavy frosts and we’ve certainly had some this year!

Despite this, Denby has a lot of food growing in her garden at the moment, and much more to come. Winter is also the time for big decisions, changing beds, building new ones and so on. Join Denby on a walk through her August garden.

Visit Dirk and Pauline December 2019

On 1 December 2019 the Food Garden Group visited Dirk and Pauline's garden at Howden.  This was the last food garden visit before Christmas, and people did not need to RSVP, so a large crowd turned up.  This might also have been because the forecast was for a rare day of calm not-to-cold weather. Showers held off until the visit ended.  It all made this a perfect food garden experience.
